During the 34th edition of the PKOpto’25 Competition named after Professor Adam Smoliński, MSc Grzegorz Bękarski, a PhD student at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research, Polish Academy of Sciences (ILT&SR PAS), was awarded the third prize for the best diploma thesis in the field of optoelectronics. This significant distinction highlights the high standard of research conducted both by the author and by the research teams supporting early-career scientists at our Institute.

The awarded thesis, entitled “Energy Transfer Phenomena between Inorganic Nanocrystals Doped with Lanthanide Ions and Organic Dyes,” was carried out at ILT&SR PAS under the supervision of Dr Katarzyna Prorok. Mr Bękarski conducted his research as a scholarship holder of the NCN WEAVE-UNISONO project 2022/04/Y/ST5/00081, led by Prof. Artur Bednarkiewicz.

This achievement is further evidence that ILT&SR  PAS provides an excellent environment for carrying out diploma theses and developing a scientific career from an early stage.
